On 1st August 2014, all local authorities in Wales implemented new Welsh Government guidance on complaints, A guide to handling complaints and representations by local authority social services with the view of improving the experience of people making complaints.

This new complaints process will provide for a more straightforward and citizen centred approach. It will also enable a more consistent approach for citizens across public services and mean that complaints involving more than one public authority are handled in a coordinated way.

Everyone who makes a complaint about social services in Wales has a right to be listened to properly and to have their concerns resolved quickly and effectively. Local authorities must learn from these concerns and use the experience to improve services for everyone who uses them.
